Dear Kent and everyone else,
Greetings! As some of you know who visit this site often my mother passed away
6 months ago while we were in Houston at MDA. I have been waiting for a
completed autopsy report before I posted anything o all of you. My old screen
name was Toys2Dscvr and my mother was Marsha.
First I would like to say that MDA is the greatest facility and Dr.
Papadopolis is one of the most compassionate men I have ever met. I will also
make it very clear that mother did not die from any of the treatment she
received. In fact the regimen she had begun 4 days prior to her death is now
giving positive results in the fight against this disease. That I think is
wonderful because now there is some hope that chemotherapy can fight off this
disease.
I strongly urge anyone who reads this to always seek out a specialist and go
tot major cancer center. My mother waited till it was to late. Even the DRS.
at MDA did not know how far gone she really was. My mom looked wonderful. At
age 48 she looked 35, she felt great and had no physical effects from the
disease. Yet she had metastasis in every major organ of her body, including
the heart. Her oncologist in our area failed to do abdominal and pelvic
ctscans every six months and when we got out to MDA she had a tumor the size
of a baseball in her kidney. She also had multiple lesions in her lungs what
we did not know is that she had metastasis to her heart, her liver, kidney,
ect. I am now glad she did not know. The mental anguish would have destroyed
her. I am thankful that she is in the next life and did not have to endure
knowing that she was eaten up with this horrible cancer. Her death was quick
and very unexpected, which was hard on all of us, but good for her. To not
suffer is a true blessing.
This letter is not to diminish peoples hope but to give them hope. There are
treatments out there and at theses large cancer centers great strides are
being made. I also want people to be aware that this cancer grows sometimes
with the organ, one of the reasons the metastasis was not discovered in my
mother's heart. This is something to be discussed with your doctor. It is so
much better to be informed about your disease.
I have tons of info to share with others, and I welcome email from others,
especially those new to all of this. I am always happy to mail out info to
you or fax you info on treatments, the cancer itself, or nutritional
information that my mother was on.
God Bless All of You! Be a warrior and fight on!
