Hi Sarah,

I'm contacting you because when I was diagnosed with LMS in October of 1997,
my husband got on the internet to see what he could learn about this form of
cancer. At that time it pick up on you message to Kent and the one from Jason
to Kent. They were both interesting.

In order to try and find out more information, my husband went back on the
internet again in May and discovered the following listserver.

lL-M-SARCOMA@LISTSERV.ACOR.ORG

This is the leiomyosarcoma (cancer) Online Support Group. Their members are
from all over the world, not just the U.S. Also, there is access to some
physicians should you have a particular medical question. I though I'd pass
this along to you both in case you were interested in corresponding with other
people with this particular cancer.

As I said, I was diagnosed in October 1997. In December I began radiation
treatments (28 of them) and then late January 1998, I was in the hospital for
3 days flat on my back with a vaginal implant. This implant was a large
plastic-like tampon with a metal core into which the radiation was placed in
the form of plastic tubing. As I said, I was not permitted out of bed for the
whole time. I'm doing great to date having seen the radiation oncologist and
my surgeon oncologist in June and July respectively. I will have a chest x-
ray done in September as a means of checking up on my lungs. However, my
surgeon felt he had gotten it all and saw nothing else involved. We decided
to do the radiation as a precautionary measure. According to the surgeon my
cancer was coming out my uterus and the path report said it was 13 cm x 10cm x
6cm. Also my mitotic count was about 7 so from what we understand this is
good even with the size of the mass. I had no fibroids so we don't know where
it came from. Also, there is no history of cancer of any form in my family.

I hope you and Jason's sister are doing okay. As I said before I just wanted
to point out the listserver to you both as well as bring it to Kent's
attention.
